Course Overview:

Classroom learning about coral ecology, coral stressors, and coral restoration procedures

Participate in coral nursery maintenance

Plant coral back on the reef

Become a coral conservation advocat

Content of the course

Coral ecology and coral biology

Stressors impacting coral reefs around the planet

Instruction on how to clean the coral trees

Training in outplanting procedures, how to choose outplant sites and how to use the tools and epoxy

THEORY:

FIRST DIVE:(coral nursery)

Use scrapers and brushes to clean the trees

Install corals on a tree

Treat any coral disease

Collect coral for outplanting

SECOND DIVE:(outplant site)

Attach monitoring tags to mark genotypes for future monitoring

Select outplant sites

Use all tools and materials to succesfully attach coral fragents to the reef
